Chinese Journal of Grassland is a monthly academic journal founded in 1979. It is supervised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the P. R. China and co-sponsored by the Institute of Grassland Research of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and the Chinese Grassland Society. It is the first grass science journal in China, with the first Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in the field of grass science, Professor LI Bo, having served as its former Editor-in-Chief.

Publication History

The journal's precursor was the "Scientific and Technological Information" bulletin, which was first published internally by the Institute of Grassland Research of CAAS in February 1971. It was officially launched as "Chinese Grassland" in September 1979 with the approval of the State Science and Technology Commission, and began public distribution at home and abroad with its first issue in 1982.

In 1985, the journal was changed to be jointly sponsored by the Institute of Grassland Research of CAAS and the Chinese Grassland Society, becoming the society's official journal. In 1987, it was renamed "Grassland of China". In 2006, it was changed to the current title of "Chinese Journal of Grassland".

Aims & Scope

The journal aims to actively disseminate and publish new research achievements, progress, and trends in the field of grass science. It strives to reflect the highest level of grassland science research in China and is committed to promoting academic exchanges at home and abroad, advancing grassland science, and promoting sustainable development of grassland-based livestock farming.

The journal focuses on both basic theoretical and applied research in grass science. It also encompasses studies on innovative technologies and research that directly contribute to ecological and economic benefits. The research topics covered mainly include grassland science, forage science, turf science, and their related disciplines, addressing issues related to grassland and forage resources, plant protection, grassland management and improvement, forage genetics, breeding and cultivation, forage physiology and biochemistry, grassland construction and ecological protection, grassland production, fodder processing, turf green spaces, grassland economy and strategies for sustainable development.
